Today, Mr. Razak guide us doing the database using the Microsoft Office Access. Uisng the cataloging information we had collected through out the semester, we key-in all the information into the table. Next, Mr. Razak teached us how to do using the Microsoft Office Access for the relationship between two tables.

Week 12 (Reflection) 1 May 2013
Today is a labour day and also Malaysia public holiday. Although this week we no need to attend to the lecture, but we still go on with our cataloging in UTM. We need to do so due to the we need the cataloging information to do the database.
Week 11 (Reflection) 24 April 2013
Through the online learning, Mr. Razak had teached us how to do database and we do it hands on after the lecture given by Mr. Razak.
A collecton of data that had been store in the computer is called as database. Database is a very useful tools where we can access and analyze easily when we need to do so. We had been told to do some hands on activity by using the SMM such as student's name, student's identification number, student's parent name and excetera.
We also get to learn about that microsoft office access is a database application where we can run a reports with large amount of data. Mr. Razak teached us how to enter data into forms and tables, running quesries for data in order to produce report.
Before we end our lecture, Mr. Razak remind us to do database using the cataloging we had done throughout the semester.

Week 10 (Reflection) 17 April 2013
In this week, we continue our learning on the cataloging topic. Summary regarding the LCC and DDC were being given by Mr. Abd Razak. We were being asked to pass up the critical writing with the topic
as stated below:
After that, he also asked us to do cataloging for the preparation of database. Below is the homework that had been done by me during the hands-on activity doing the cataloging in the thesis resource centre.

Kenapa DDC digunakan di perpustakaan sekolah rendah manakala
LCC digunakan di
perpustakaan university ?
menggunakan dua sistem pengkelasan nombor buku iaitu: Library of Congress
akademik universiti.

Week 8 (Reflection) 3 April 2013
This week we were being exposed with the DDC number building. The fraction of the potential DDC numbers are included in the schedules and it is necessary to build a number that is not specifically listed in the schedule. The four sources of notation for building numbers are as follow:

(b) Tables 2-6;
(c) Other parts of the schedules; and
(d) add tables in the schedules.

Week 7 (Reflection) 27 March 2013
Library classification is the basic principle of library classification of the group items on the shelves according to broad fields of knowledge and specific subjects within each field, so users can find the items more easier.
The aims of Library Classification are as follow:
(a) To arrange the field of knowledge.
(b) Bring items that are related to be together.
(c) To provide an orderly access on the shelves.
(d) To provide an exact location for item on the shelves.
Type of classification learn by today is hierarchical classification e.g DDC, LCC. DDC is stand for Dewey Decimal Classification and LCC is stand for Library of Congress Classification. Through the hierarchical classification , the subject is being divide into the most general to the most specific. This help to organise whole world knowledge into a hierarchy of subject, such an example, the DDC divided knowledge into ten main classes and each classes is subdivided into narrower subjects.
The ten main classes are:
1. 000 Computers, information & general reference.
2. 100 Philosophy & psychology.
3. 200 Religion
4. 300 Social sciences
5. 400 Language
6. 500 Science
7. 600 Technology
8. 700 Arts & recreation
9. 800 Literature
10. 900 History & geography
In the DDC, arabic numerals are used to represent each class. The second digit is use to indicate the division. 510 is for mathematics, 520 for astronomy and 530 is for physics. The third digit number indicate the section. 530 is for the general works on physics, 531 for classical mechanics, 532 for fluid mechanics and 533 for gas mechanics.
